"Simulate an "Amazon Mission", climbing "Everest", or surviving after being "Stranded" by conducting mathematics investigations and using the engineering design process to solve problems! Explore the Building Math instructional materials developed through a partnership between the Boston Museum of Science and Tufts University. Algebra and engineering are critical fields that are worth combining. The Building Math series includes standards-based activities that integrate algebra and technology using a hands-on, problem-solving, and cooperative-learning approach.These problem based learning units are sure to engage and excite middle school students while learning and reinforcing key algebraic concepts. Upon completion of the 2-day training, all participants will receive the Building Math three book series including reproducible student pages, teacher pages, a DVD of classroom videos for teacher professional development, and a java applet used a computer model in one of the activities."
Note: Twelve (12) GT hours will count toward 12 GT hours for annual recertification or 30-hour certification but not in lieu of Curriculum and Instruction - Day 3. Fee will not be paid through Region 20 ESC GT District Co-op membership.
 
This training session is being held at Region 20 Education Service Center in San Antonio.
