"Simulate an "Amazon Mission", climbing "Everest", or surviving after being "Stranded" by conducting mathematics investigations and using the engineering design process to solve problems! Explore the Building Math instructional materials developed through a partnership between the Boston Museum of Science and Tufts University. Algebra and engineering are critical fields that are worth combining. The Building Math series includes standards-based activities that integrate algebra and technology using a hands-on, problem-solving, and cooperative-learning approach. These problem based learning units are sure to engage and excite middle school students while learning and reinforcing key algebraic concepts. Upon completion of the 2-day training, all participants will receive the Building Math three book series including reproducible student pages, teacher pages, a DVD of classroom videos for teacher professional development, and a java applet used a computer model in one of the activities."
