Putting the “T” and "E" in STEM: Data Collection in the Math & Science Classrooms
Region XIII Education Service Center
24.00 CPE Credits
$150.00
The understanding and use of technology are critical components of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. Learn how to use National Instrument's LabVIEW graphical programming software to create virtual instruments (VIs) and introduce students to engineering, programming, and design concepts in math and science classrooms. LabVIEW software is used extensively in research and industry. This software, coupled with Vernier probes and the SensorDAQ interface and/or LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT, can be used to support problem based learning in math and science classrooms.
An overview of both Vernier technology and the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT as well as classroom applications of both is provided. Project resources, including step-by-step instructions for building programs with LabVIEW are also provided. In addition, participants will receive a sampling of the technology tools used in the workshop.
