Flipped Classroom Defined
The flipped classroom provides avenues for teachers to become facilitators of learning and move away from the sage on a stage approach to teaching. The foundational concepts of instructors guiding students or facilitating their progress are based on the idea that the instructor is no longer at the center of the interaction and application of knowledge.

Join us for a day of in-depth professional learning designed to prepare you for the benefits and challenges related to the technology needs and instructional strategies that makes flipping your classroom a real possibility.
- In this workshop we will examine the philosophical and pedagogical implications of implementing a flipped classroom model.
- We will engage in collaborative conversations about the transformational teaching and learning opportunities created through this approach, and consider some of the caveats related to its implementation.
- During the workshop participants will have an opportunity to explore some technology-based resources available to teachers who are looking to flip their classrooms.
Important note: This is a BYOD workshop. A laptop computer (rather than a tablet) will work best with the tools we will be exploring. Region 13 will have a limited number of laptops available for participants who do not have a device to bring.
Registration for this workshop closed on February 17, 2015. If you are interested in attending a Flipped Classroom workshop, we will offer this session again on June 22, 2015. Please see workshop number SU1531533.
