Implementing Genius Hour in Any Classroom

With information easily accessible at our students' fingertips, it has never been more important to help students learn how to learn.  One of the best ways to accomplish this is through students' natural curiosity.  This is the idea behind Genius Hour: time set aside during the school day for students to explore topics of interest to them.

Registration for this workshop closed on November 6, 2015. Please contact leslie.barrett@esc13.txed.net if you have questions about this session.

In this hands on session, we will explore the academic and student engagement benefits of implementing Genius Hour in any classroom.  We will examine the steps necessary to get Genius Hour up and running, and we will participate in our own Genius Hour during the session. Teachers will have time to investigate an educational topic of their choice, and reflect on their discoveries, experience, and learning as a means of better understanding how to make Genius Hour a success in their own classrooms.

This is a BYOD (bring your own device) session. Please plan to bring a laptop computer, charger, and headphones or earbuds.
