Project Launch

Welcome to the PBL Online Course, Project Launch. This is part of a series of courses to support you in understanding and implementing PBL, Project based learning, in your classroom.

The project launch is the beginning step to creating student-driven learning and inquiry. Directly relating to the driving question and the state standards, the project launch tickles the student's brain and has them ready to accept the PBL challenge.

In this course you will learn:

  • what an entry event is.
  • the different approaches that can be used to introduce projects.
  • to facilitate the process of identifying Knows and Need-to-Knows to ensure students have identified the significant content.
  • to use the entry event and Knows/ Need-to-Knows to maintain student engagement throughout the project.
  • to transition from the project launch to project work through identifying the next steps.
