Assessment Blueprint

Welcome to the PBL Online Course, Assessment Blueprint. This is part of a series of courses to support you in understanding and implementing PBL, Project based learning, in your classroom. An Assessment Blueprint provides an overview of the specific competencies and skills measured on the assessments that take place throughout a project. As you consider the 21st Century Skills and TEKS that your project requires of students, think of both traditional test items and non-traditional, authentic tasks that will assess these knowledge and skills.

In this course you will learn:

  • how formative and summative assessments can be used to address student's acquisition of content knowledge and 21st century skills.
  • how students revise and continually improve through assessments.
  • how to ensure a balance between individual and group assessments.
  • how to use assessment to enhance all the facets of a project: student choice, authenticity, autonomy, community connections, etc.

We hope that you will use this course to create a new PBL project or to refine an existing project.
