Counting Skills in Pre-K, Much More than 1, 2, 3
From shapes to adding and subtracting, teaching Pre-K students basic math skills can be a wonderful challenge. In this series of workshops, we will explore formal and informal strategies for effectively teaching math to your young scholars.
Strong numeracy is essential for success in all areas of math and the major focus of math instruction in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. We’ll begin this workshop by examining why the skill of counting is like a layered cake! Counting is more than reciting the number sequence. It has multiple layers that children must master to be proficient counters.
Come learn fun, practical strategies to develop your students’ numeracy in whole and small groups, and centers.
Note: This training is aligned to the Mathematics Domain - Counting Skills from the 2015 Texas Pre-K Guidelines.
