At-Risk Services Network: 13 Reasons Why Not: Suicide Prevention in the Age of Social Media

The At-Risk Services Network is designed to keep school personnel up-to-date and informed on best practices related to at-risk students. The network will provide the opportunity for school personnel from all areas to keep informed, share information and resources, and build a network of support with other campuses and districts.

The Netflix show, 13 Reasons Why, created a national dialogue on suicide in youth. In this workshop we’ll continue the discussion, focusing on how social media and technology make suicide prevention efforts more challenging for school personnel. We’ll focus on professional, parent, and peer strategies to identify students struggling with depression and suicidal ideation and link them with the supportive and professional resources.
