Are you looking for engaging and effective ways to help your primary students gain confidence and competence with key math concepts. Come prepared to play math games that incorporate the use of cards, dice, multi-sided dice, math shakers, number lines and other easily found math manipulatives. The games and strategies are perfect for integrating into your work stations, small group or whole class instruction.
Concepts covered include: counting, comparing, one-to one correspondence, operations including strategies for developing fact fluency with understanding, number and operations in base ten, understanding place value concepts to 1,000, graphing.
Throughout the workshop participants will have the opportunity to play each game, learn how to differentiate the activities, how to develop journal extensions, maximize math talk and how to use games for assessment purposes. You will learn how to incorporate visual note taking and build strategy books with your students. Student samples, gameboards will be provided. Interspersed throughout will be practical ideas for management, organization, grouping and more.
