For middle school students and their parents, HB5 graduation requirements, endorsements, and pathways can be overwhelming! This workshop is designed to help you create grade specific goals for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to help them begin the transition to high school course planning and beyond.
Objectives covered:
- Graduation requirements and recent legislative updates relevant to this year,
- Transition activities for each grade level,
- Available products and resources will be reviewed for you to utilize with your students and their families,
- Statutory and regulatory requirements related to post secondary awareness and planning will be reviewed,
- Texas OnCourse will provide the most current updated middle school resources for students and parents,
- Texas Workforce Commission will also showcase free resources and relevant future career data,
- A-F Accountability Data will be shared as related to College, Career, and Military Readiness as well as STAAR assessment performance measures; all of these A-F Accountability Domains can be impacted by the work of the middle school counselor
Attendees will leave the workshop with a working draft for all of the content covered and how to meet the career and college planning needs for middle school students.
A free middle school toolkit to help you with all components of the school counseling program will be showcased for all attendees to use to enhance their counseling programs throughout the school year.
