RTI, PBIS, and Restorative Discipline - Best Practices for the School Counselor
This workshop will provide clear initiatives and programming strategies for the school counselor to most effectively support PBIS, RTI, and Restorative Discipline practices at all campus levels. Despite the growing popularity in schools, many school counselors and school leaders are unclear of the school counselor’s unique role in the multi-tiered intervention programming pieces used in schools today.
Participant workshop objectives include the ability and knowledge to:
- Expand the school counseling program goals and objectives to encompass the school wide positive behavioral programming (PBIS, RTI, Restorative Discipline)
- Understand the role that a professional school counselor should serve regarding the campus wide positive behavioral tiered supports
- Support more students in a holistic yet individualized capacity with the campus strategies and interventions relevant to the school and community with tiered support systems.
All students and staff benefit when school counselors are actively supporting a multi-tiered model of support at their campus for students. With increased numbers of students on the counselor’s caseloads, efficient, collaborative, and effective programming models are critical to meet the needs of our students.
