TAKS Boot Camp for English Language Learners: ELA and Social Studies

During this workshop, participants will explore language-based
approach to TAKS preparation that takes into account an ELL's need
for more linguistic and cognitive
test-taking strategies. Teachers will walk through the design of a
five-session preparation program that gives students the opportunity to
review and prepare for TEKS/TAKS content while subsequently allowing
them to develop key test-taking skills that address their language
needs. Participants will experience how the boot camp process builds
confidence through a concrete-strategy approach. This workshop is appropriate for teachers of students in TAKS grade levels (3-8). A variety of content examples will be provided.
