The workshops in the U.S. history series provide in-depth content
information on U.S history eras/topics of study related to TEKS for the
high school U.S. History course "U.S. History Since
Reconstruction." Each workshop includes a content
presentation plus related primary source documents and lessons.
2/7/08 Civil Rights. Civil Rights is one of the pivotal
stories of American history. From the very beginning conflict has
arisen between the ideals set out in the Constitution
and reality. This workshop examines the struggles and
triumphs in our efforts toward individual rights through the eyes of
those who were there. Participants will study primary source documents
- and receive copies for use in the classroom - and hear from
content experts to help provide historical
context through history.
