Autism for the General Education Teacher
As more students with autism are included in general education classes, the need for basic information about autism from the perspective of a general educator has grown. This course was designed to provide an overview on autism and suggest evidence-based instructional strategies to promote independence and encourage academic, social, communication, and behavioral success for students with autism in the classroom setting.
Learner objectives for this course are: 1. To identify and describe characteristics associated with autism; 2. to identify possible evidence-based strategies and best practices for educating students with autism in the classroom; and 3. to identify possible material and resources to assist in collaborative planning and program implementation
This online course is a training module developed by the Texas Statewide Leadership for Autism Training as a part of an autism training series.
