Job Coaching: Supporting Quality Work Experience for Students with Disabilities

This course will provide tools and resources for effective job coaching. Participants will be able to:
1) Understand legal requirements, purpose for Work Based Learning, and key concepts involved in job coaching
2) Identify and document student skills and progress related to work performance, including vocational assessment, task analysis, and functional resume-building
3) Effectively develop, match, or carve jobs according to student strengths, preferences, and interests
*This workshop is highly recommended for anyone who manages, organizes, or supports employment programs for students with disabilities.
Work based learning is a critical piece in the transition puzzle. Effective strategies to support students with disabilities in the workplace and fading those supports in order to increase independence are necessary to enable students to connect with meaningful employment experiences and possible long-term careers. Job coaches are essential in this process and must have a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and strategies to support employment for students with disabilities.Who is this for?
