ESC Region 13's Beat the Heat is a multi-day professional development opportunity for educators who work with children ages 3-5 and children with significant disabilities ages 6-21.

Content for breakout sessions is developed to meet the needs of new and veteran teachers. Topics include:  Curriculum & Instruction; Classroom Management & Organization; Behavior; Autism; Communication; Assistive Technology; Sensory Motor; Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD)   This year's theme speaker is Ian Brown, author of The Boy in the Moon, a powerful, honest, and emotionally complicated memoir of raising his son, Walker--one of only a few hundred people worldwide who live with an extremely rare genetic mutation.   Born with CFC (cardiofaciocutaneous) syndrome, Walker Brown is a mystery, as remote to his family as the moon.
