Aligning Coursework to Targeted Occupations in Central Texas

Do not miss this opportunity to stay current with trends and issues affecting today's school counselor.  This session is presented to inform Texas Counselors of the most current "best practices" that impact the implementation of an effective comprehensive guidance program.

This workshop provides an overview of the Foundation High School Program and how endorsements, programs of study, and personal graduation plans work together to meet the requirements of state law and the unique needs of students. ACAN will share research of newly released findings from Pathways of Promise, a regional analysis of career and technical education pathways such as STEM, IT, health sciences, and education. A model of the efforts of high schools and Austin Community College to align their courses and provide students with a strong transition from high school to postsecondary education will be presented. This workshop is the place to discover which occupations in Central Texas will be in demand in the years to come. In the afternoon, we will have a variety of representatives from non-traditional careers and programs of study on hand to share information with school counselors.

This workshop is prepaid for members of the Counselor Cooperative and ACAN group please remember to use your promotional code when registering.

ECU, LSW and LPC credits are available.
