Getting Started with Flipped Learning

Technology in education is becoming increasingly prevalent. While technology alone will not transform learning, teachers are finding innovative ways to harness the power of technology to enhance the way they approach teaching and support learning in their classrooms. Flipped learning is one of those innovations.

Getting Started with Flipped Learning is an introductory workshop designed for teachers who are just beginning to explore the idea of flipped classrooms and flipped learning.

In this session we will

  • examine the philosophical and pedagogical implications of implementing a flipped classroom model
  • engage in collaborative conversations about the transformational teaching and learning opportunities created through this approach, and consider some of the caveats related to its implementation
  • dissect the logistics of setting up flipped learning experiences
  • explore some tools teachers can use if they decide to try flipping their classroom

Important note:  This is a BYOD (bring your own device) workshop.  A laptop computer (rather than a tablet) will work best with the tools we will be exploring.  Region 13 will have a limited number of laptops available for participants who do not have a device to bring.
