App Smashing for Creativity

Tech Bytes Mini Workshops are short but concentrated learning sessions spotlighting different ways technology can enhance classroom instruction.

Each 3 hour session is a stand alone course that will provide some background information on the educational theory and the tool, will provide examples to analyze, and includes collaborative hands-on time to try out the ideas on your own. Take one course, take a few, take them all!

These sessions will take place in a Dell computer lab. You may also want to bring your own device (laptop and/or tablet) to have access to your own files.

Our tech bytes sessions are short and will move fast. They are best matched with participants who are at the apprentice, practitioner, or expert level of digital fluency.

Registration has closed. Please contact leslie.barrett@esc13.txed.net with questions about this session.

App smashing is a way to blend capabilities of two or more technology tools to create one end product. If you are working in a BYOD or 1:1 environment, or just looking for fun ideas to bring technology-infused activities into your classroom, this mini session will help. During our 3 hour workshop we will

  • consider the importance of building activities to showcase student creativity
  • examine 3 sample "smashes" and deconstruct how each was created
  • identify the 21st century skill application reinforced with each activity
  • have some hands-on tech lab time to explore the apps presented in the session
