Advancing Improvement in Education (AIE) 2016 Conference + Leadership Institute

Mission

The mission of the annual AIE Conference is connecting leaders to inspire accountability, innovation, and possibility for school improvement through partnerships and research-based best practices.

Participants will discover new avenues to inspire accountability, innovation, and possibility for school improvement.

Theme

The 2016 AIE Conference theme, Inspire Growth, is about re-igniting a passion for our districts and schools. It is about envisioning extraordinary possibilities, taking courageous actions, and being our best selves to motivate and create a space for continuous improvement. The call to action this year is to recommit to leading, teaching, learning, and rethink how we create positive change to address the needs of all children.

AIE Leadership Institute Purpose

The purpose of the AIE Leadership Institute is to strengthen a culture for continuous improvement at the district and campus levels.
To align to this year’s theme, the focus will be on strengthening culture of high expectations to inspire growth.

Participants will:

  • Engage in reflective dialogue on the impact of high expectations on continuous improvement efforts
  • Determine key actions of district and campus personnel to create a culture of high expectations and influence desired student outcomes
  • Identify next steps to strengthen a district/campus culture of high expectations

Overview

The day will begin with reflection and synthesis of the AIE conference experience, including new ideas, connections, wonderings, and action steps/plans.  A shared understanding of a culture of high expectations will be set, followed by visioning exercises around stakeholder behaviors to yield desired student outcomes.  The remainder of the day will include multiple dynamic keynotes that will share theoretical and practical perspectives and stories on the power of culture.

Each keynote will provide concrete examples on how to implement a culture of high expectations.  Activities will promote collaborative dialogue and developing action steps to monitor and measure the impact of a culture of high expectations.  Each keynote will also guide participants in considering how new thinking and learning, garnered from their AIE experience, supports the creation of a culture of high expectations.

You are encouraged, but not required, to attend as a team.
