2+2=4? What does addition and subtraction look like in Pre-k?
From shapes to adding and subtracting, teaching Pre-K students basic math skills can be a wonderful challenge. In this series of workshops, we will explore formal and informal strategies for effectively teaching math to your young scholars.
Addition and Subtraction are key skills for life, but how does that look like in Pre-K?
Pre-K children should use concrete objects to represent oral story problems to join or separate. They are not encouraged to use symbols such as a plus, minus or equal sign.
Join us for a fun-filled morning where we will explore informal and formal strategies to make a collection larger or smaller. Including ways of modeling mathematical behavior and asking the children to do the same.
Note: This training is aligned to the Adding To/Taking Away Skills under the Mathematics Domain in the 2015 Texas Pre-K Guidelines.
