Creative and Critical Thinking

Participants will be introduced to select teaching models and instructional strategies that promote cognitive and affective growth for gifted students. Specific topics for this day of the training will include Bloom's Taxonomy, Creativity, Depth and Complexity and Questioning Strategies.

The Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students requires that "teachers who provide instruction and services that are a part of the program for gifted students have a minimum of thirty clock hours of staff development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students, assessing student needs, and curriculum and instruction for gifted students" (4.1A, p. 8).

This course is designed to partially fulfill this requirement while providing teachers with research-based, practical methods to serve gifted/talented learners in their classrooms.

This workshop is Day 4 of the 30 hour G/T Training.
