TELL ME: AAC in the Preschool Classroom

This 2-day workshop provides in-depth exploration of a prekindergarten program designed to empower teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and families to support the use core vocabulary in AAC systems. Participants will learn about the key elements of the TELL ME program (Zangari & Wise, 2017) and see how core language is addressed in shared reading and writing lessons, classroom routines, and typical play/learning activities. 

 

Each participant will receive a copy of the TELL ME: AAC in the Preschool Classroom Curriculum valued at $100 and a manual communication board to use during hands-on activities throughout the day and to take back to the classroom so that implementation can begin without delay.

  •  TELL ME includes hands-on activities to prepare for implementation. The agenda would include the following topics and approximate times.
    • Rationale and overview: 60 minutes
    • Orienting to materials & prepping for each book: 30 min
    • Foundational practice activities: 90 min
    • Shared reading: 60 min
    • Shared reading hands-on practice activity: 60 min
    • Shared writing: 60 min
    • Shared writing hands-on practice activity: 60 min
    • Classroom centers and routines: 60 min
    • Infusion activities (hands-on): 90 min
    • Working w/ families: 60 min
