CANCELED - Enhancing Instructional Opportunities for Immigrant Students

The purpose of this workshop is to familiarize participants with the Enhancing Instructional Opportunities for Immigrant Students resource - newly released from the TEA.  Districts and charters that serve high numbers of immigrant students must be prepared to provide activities that focus on enhancing instructional opportunities. The first section of this training outlines identification and accountability with Title III - the source of much federal funding for immigrant students. The second piece empowers educators to better welcome immigrant students and improve learning outcomes for this population, providing a framework with which to assess campus strengths and needs.  All participants will receive complementary copies of Enhancing Instructional Opportunities for Immigrant Students: Identification and Procedural Companion.

If you are a stakeholder interested in rolling out similar trainings in your district, we encourage you to attend this learning opportunity. While this event is not an official trainer of trainers, we will discuss professional development considerations to guide LEAs in meeting cognitive, linguistic, and affective needs of immigrant students.
