Title III - Parent Literacy TOT - Sessions 1-8

Parents want to support their children and wish the best for them. Many times they are eager to know more ways to foster literacy development in their native language or English. As a school coordinator or support person, you can provide parents with day-to-day ideas that will foster literacy in their homes. 

Who can attend this TOT? Teachers, campus administrators, instructional coaches or parent specialist. 

Suggested audience for the trainings you will receive from us is parents of students in Pk-2nd grade.

Topics include:

  • The importance of reading to your child
  • Finding the Right Book
  • Vocabulary Development
  • Comprehension Strategies 
  • Questioning Techniques
  • Improving Fluency
  • The Reading and Writing Connection
  • Literacy in English and Spanish

As a participant you will receive PPTs to guide parents in developing literacy. 

Topics include:

     - The Importance of Reading to Your Child

     - Finding the Right Book

     - Vocabulary Development
 
     - Comprehension
 
 
You will attend a TOT to receive the content and participate in some of the same activities that parents will go through in this series of trainings.
