ALGEBRA I - STAAR Assessment Prep

The Region 13 Content Services team strives to be: • Data driven • Responsive to student learning needs • Learner - centered

Data-driven: Using longitutal, regional data from 2016 to 2018, the Region 13 Math team discovered a drop in student performance in 37% of the SEs assessed on the Algebra I STAAR. This workshop specifically targets the power standards that will support students in gaining ground.   Responsive to student learning needs: Participants will walk away with specific strategies to support mathematical discussions, as well as activities that target low-performing SEs.   Learner-centered: No more sit and get! This workshop provides cooperative learning, stations, scavenger hunts, and a plethora of resources that can be used in the classroom the very next day.
Join us for an AMAZING day of learning, collaboration, and FUN as we learn strategies to support students with the Algebra I STAAR Assessment!

In this workshop, we will:

  • Unpack the "hard to learn, hard to teach" TEKS assessed on the STAAR assessment and identify opportunities to gain ground with students
  • Learn strategies and explore resources to support active, hands-on review for each reporting category on STAAR
  • Create a plan for implementation that spirals skills and supports differentiation
