SAMA Facilitator 5 Day Course (Trainer) Spring 2022
Training in risk management of aggression to create a physically and psychologically safe environment.
The participant has the opportunity to become a certified facilitator who can lead participants through the basic SAMA 16 hour course. The SAMA program focuses on preventing aggression from becoming physically harmful. The emphasis of the course is on using the Assisting Process in all interactions and is demonstrated in all four programs:  Basic Principles and Assisting Process, Protection of Self and Others, Containment (Restraint), and Object Retrieval.
 
If your district/LEA is already using SAMA and you have an active license, you do not need to purchase another. Multiple trainers in the same district may share one site license.  See instructions below for using discount code.
 
Please NOTE: As of February 2019 ALL Materials have changed. Please bring any active manuals from your district to this training so they can be updated.

Participants must be able to attend from 9:00 to 4:30 for ALL 5 days of the course and show competency in all four areas of the program to receive certification. If you miss a day for any reason, you will not be able to complete the competencies needed to pass this course; if you cannot complete the competencies you cannot be certified. If you have any injuries/medical conditions that may keep you from participating you may need a doctors release to participate in the course. For more information and if you have concerns, please contact the instructor before the course begins. 
 
Day 1 and 2: Basic Certification in the 16 hour course
 
Day 3-5: Break down of how to teach each skill
Participants teach selected parts of each of the four modules, and complete Performance Assessments

Communication requirements

Must be able to accurately apply the Assisting Process by the end of course.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including:

  • Stepping backward
  • Grasping
  • Bending at the waist and knees
  • Twisting at the waist
  • Side-stepping
  • Have the ability to shifting direction quickly-180 degrees
  • Must be able to do a reverse lunge
  • Lowering 30-50 pounds to the ground

Registration includes one site license and all needed materials to facilitate this course. If you need to train more than one person, but only need one license (trainers can share materials) please enter discount code of "nolicense", and that will reduce your cost for an additional trainer to $655.00.

*Note: If block-registering, you will need to register the first person as a separate transaction. Then the additional participants can be registered in a second transaction using the discount code.
