This course is aligned to the Effective Schools Framework Prioritized Lever 5 Effective Instruction

EA 5.1 Campus leaders provide teachers with job-embedded professional development and access to time and data needed to reflect, adjust, and deliver instruction that meets the needs of all students.

Bring your school team to the three interactive workshops focused on creating TEKS aligned lessons with clear learning objectives and success criteria. Your lessons will also include rigorous instructional strategies with differentiated or scaffolded activities to meet the needs of all students. Creating regular formative assessments with exemplars will be part of your lesson planning cycle with practice working in teams to assess lesson plans for effective feedback. 

  1. At the first professional development session at Region 13 you will focus on unpack the identified priority TEKS for your content to create clear learning objectives and success criteria as part of the lesson planning process.
  2. In the second professional development sessions you will learn about designing TEKS aligned formative assessments to measure student mastery of the learning objectives and success critieria and ensuring greater teacher clarity of expectations
  3. In the third workshop, you will continue your lesson planning by extending your understand of ways to
  • analyze student assessment data to inform instructional decisons
  • build student ownership of their learning to develop self confident learners through explicit tracking tools for monitoring their learning progress.
