WEBINAR TOPIC: Play Therapy and Nurture Groups

Presenter: JoEllen Goldsberry, PSC, LPC

J.S. Goldsberry & Associates (Bio Link)

Play-based interventions and nurture groups increase academic achievement and decrease problematic behaviors. Play therapy helps children to communicate, process difficult emotions and learn new behaviors through play. Nurture Groups are one of the most important practices of TBRI, with the goal of teaching relational and regulation skills through play. They also provide a wonderful opportunity to build connection between children and caretakers.

In this workshop, participants will learn the research regarding effectiveness of play therapy interventions and nurture groups and learn how to partner with stakeholders in the school and the community. Attendees will learn strategies, including how to implement play therapy and nurture groups virtually, to infuse into their comprehensive counseling programs, at their respective campus, district, or counseling practice/agency.
