The course is aligned with the Effective Schools Framework Prioritized Lever 5 EA 5.3 Data Driven Instruction, and it is a cohort model with district/school teams of up to 10 people.
There will be 3 days of virtual professional development sessions facilitated by Region 13 specialists which will focus on building strong Professional Learning Communities using the PLC+ model from Hattie, Fisher, Frey for instructional planning around five guiding questions to analyze data, to identify student learning gaps, and to identify barriers to student learning. Ways to make student progress towards measurable goals visible in classrooms will be part of our process to help our students become self confident learners. The core of the PLC+ model is addressing issues of equity for the learning of all students.
Teams will use a structured process and protocols to address the Key Practice for EA 5.3: Teacher teams meet frequently and regularly for in-depth conversations about formative and interim student data, effective instructional strategies, and possible adjustments to instructional delivery focused on meeting the needs of both struggling learners and learners needing acceleration.
Individualized coaching and feedback virtually and/or in-person will be provided focused on the protocols, student data, and artifacts created throughout the year.
Teams will recieve copies of the PLC+ book and Playbook by Hattie, Fisher and Frey. (5 per team).
