The Cattell-Horn-Carroll Theory of Cognitive Abilities (CHC Theory) has been strongly influential in cognitive test development and in test interpretation frameworks. In this presentation, we will cover: What does research tell us about how the various CHC ability constructs relate to everyday difficulties at home, school, and work? How does one integrate a nuanced understanding of a person’s cognitive abilities with an empathic understanding of the whole person in their unique context? How can one best communicate useful information about CHC abilities in an assessment report and face-to-face meetings? This session will introduce participants to the updated CHC Theory that proposes a number of additions, deletions, and rearrangements in the list of CHC theory abilities.
