The School Librarians Webinar Series offers school librarians the opportunity to connect and network with other school librarians in ESC Region 13. 

Each webinar in the School Librarians Workshop Series will feature a school librarian sharing an area of expertise.

Session Title:

A Bundle of Innovations: Using a Systems-Level Perspective to Advocate for School Library Programs

 

Session Description:

Learn how to tweak and rebrand what you already do in your school library to better align with district, regional, and state educational priorities. Specifically, we'll talk about emphasizing the connection between literacy and equity, developing college and career readiness through the principles of a Learning Lab, transforming curriculum and instruction through information literacy and collaboration, and personalizing learning with the principles of Universal Design for Learning.

 

Bio:

Jonathan Hunt is the Coordinator of Library Media Services at the San Diego County Office of Education where he supports forty-two local school districts. Prior to that he was a classroom teacher for grades 4-8 and a school librarian for grades K-12. He has also taught at San Jose State University, presented seminars for the Bureau of Education & Research, written for Horn Book Magazine and School Library Journal, and served on many prestigious award committees such as the Newbery Medal, the Caldecott Medal, the Printz Award, the Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
