IC: Steve Barkley Lunch & Learn Series - Coaching PLC Teams (Fall 2022)

ESC -13 is partnering with Steve Barkley to bring instructional coaching support through a series of Lunch and Learn engagements. The series, each made up of three one- hour sessions, is complete on its own and aligns with each other to create a year-long learning opportunity. Each one-hour session will provide for exchanges with other coaches and Steve’s responses to your questions. Participants will also be able to submit questions or current scenarios in advance for Steve to address during the Lunch and Learn session.

District staff supporting principals and coaches can plan debriefing sessions following the Lunch and Learn sessions to extend the application of possibilities within your system.

Those registered will be able to access a video of a session if attendance in the live session was not possible.

Coaching Teams of Teachers - Fall 2022

“Team members' confidence in each other's abilities and their belief in the impact of the team's work are key elements that set successful school teams apart. Publicly seeking evidence of positive effects on student learning does not happen serendipitously or by accident..” (Donohoo, Hattie , Eells )

While instructional coaching delivered in one-on-one conferences with teachers is extremely impactful, in most schools coaching teaching teams and PLCs is necessary to reach maximum student learning. Partially, this is due to the numbers of teachers whom coaches are supporting, but it is also necessary to build collective efficacy among staff.

In this Lunch & Learn series, participants will explore the following essential questions as we learn concrete skills and strategies to better coach teams of teachers and PLCs:

  • How do coaches support teachers’ understanding of “real” professional learning communities where agendas and accountability are owned by the teachers?

  • How can building peer coaching elements into PLC increase teacher learning?

  • How can you coach a team from individualized practice to shared responsibility for all students?

This course includes:

  • Three one-hour, virtual Lunch & Learn sessions with Steve Barkley from 11:00-12:00 CST on the following dates:

    • Thursday, October 27, 2022

    • Thursday, November 10, 2022

    • Thursday, December 1, 2022

  • OPTIONAL: Personalized, one-on-one virtual coaching sessions with an ESC 13 Instructional Coach.

Our virtual coaching framework utilizes an Ask-Collaborate-Reflect cycle. We can support you in developing and achieving your desired outcomes for the course, as well as implementing your learning in your specific context and overcoming any challenges that may arise throughout the school year. Coaches need coaches, and everyone deserves a coach. Let us be yours!
