The Instructional Coaching Institute will provide a definition of what coaches do, distinguish between effective and ineffective coaching practices, and provide an overview of the current state of research on coaching using a variety of sources (ie. Jim Knight, Joellen Killion, Cindy Harrison, Cognitive Coaching, etc.). Presenters include Region XIII Instructional Coaching Manager, Lisa Wyatt, and national coaching presenter and author, Stephen Barkley. The institute addresses the following:
- What an instructional coach does
- The various roles of coaches
- Specific communication strategies a coach uses to build relationships with teachers and administrators
- A "toolbox" of resources for coaches
