Literacy for Students with Significant Disabilities
This three day workshop supports teachers providing literacy instruction to students with significant disabilities. Teachers will learn about the foundations of emergent literacy development in students with significant disabilities, and gain strategies to build oral and written language skills; support vocabulary development and reading and listening comprehension; teach sight word and decoding skills; and teach emergent writing. Teachers will also learn about Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) supports that help students participate, communicate, and access content.      There will also be a make and take!
