Region 13's E-Campus

This six-hour workshop is a component of the

required thirty hours for teachers delivering services to identified GT students. Participants will be introduced to select teaching models and instructional strategies that promote cognitive and affective growth for gifted students. Specific topics for this day of the training include the Texas Performance Standards Project and designing project-based learning for gifted students.   The Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP) is a statewide standards and assessment system you can use to capture the high levels of achievement of gifted and talented students. The goal of the TPSP is for students to create work that reflects the professional quality that the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students requires. Student projects are TEKS-based and focus on the core content areas of English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies with interdisciplinary connections.

Participants will have the opportunity to examine the project requirements and view actual products created by gifted students. They will examine ways in which teachers have implemented TPSP as a part of their gifted/talented programs.
