Folding Meaning into Content - Taylor ISD

Workshops in the Connections Series focus on ways to integrate content. These sessions will bring content to life as participants explore real world applications and examine ways to incorporate meaningful learning experiences for all students. Please check the class notes for details regarding the content of each individual training.

This dynamic workshop features the Foldables of Dinah Zike! Participants will engage in constructing a variety of 3D interactive graphic organizers that will equip them with a wonderful alternative to traditional worksheets and provide them with a form of alternative assessment. Foldables give students a fast, kinesthetic way to help organize and retain information and are appropriate for all learning styles, including ELL students. Foldables are designed to be used as a study guide for main ideas and key points and can be used to solve problems, answer questions, explain computations, record definitions, take notes, make connections across content, and create journals, graphs, charts, tables, and much more. This workshop allows teachers to explore ways in which to individualize Foldables to meet their curriculum needs.

Although this training focuses primarily on math examples, the knowledge gained is appropriate for teachers of all content including instructional coaches, interventionists, special education, bilingual and ELL teachers.
