Best Practice for Elementary Math - Taylor ISD

This course is designed to give participants hands on experiences with strategies that support high quality Tier 1 instruction in mathematics. The course workshops are designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of learners including ELL, bilingual, special education, and gifted students.

This workshop focuses on the utilization of best practice for teaching mathematics at the elementary level. You will explore high quality Tier 1 instructional strategies designed to maximize students' understanding of math. Topics include teaching practices, problem solving, creating representations, and communicating math ideas.

Explore the use of manipulatives to bridge and build student understanding, experience problem solving as a means of differentiation, and learn to extend the math you teach to include multiple representations and algebraic thinking.
