In this two-day training, participants will examine the new US History TEKS and explore ways to improve overall social studies instruction to support student success on the STAAR US History End-of-Course assessment. The training is also designed to build participant knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS), English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and Response to Intervention (RtI). Sessions will provide Texas educators with online resources and follow-up activities through Project Share, the statewide online interactive platform. Participants will also be invited to join online professional learning communities. The $70.00 registration fee for this training has been waived due to TEA funding through the TEKS PD grant. This is a Core Professional Development - Core Professional Development is valuable for new teachers, teachers who are changing teaching assignments and teachers who are developing skills in a particular professional development pathway. It is also valuable when TEKS are revised.
Please note: Due to low participant registration, this workshop will be condensed to a 1-day workshop only, Monday June 17, 2013. CPE hours provided = 6.
- This training also includes a differentiation component and allows time for teachers to examine and reflect on the TEKS changes for the Social Studies content area that they teach.
- Teacher access to Project Share is not a prerequisite, but is highly encouraged for follow-up communication and networking.
Registration will begin at 8:30 am and the sessions will begin promptly at 9:00 am each day (Unless noted otherwise). Due to requirements from TEA, attendance at these workshops is strictly monitored. You must be present the entire session, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, all days required, in order to receive full credit. If you cannot attend the full session, we suggest registering for another session at a time when you will be able to attend the entire workshop.
