Meet Me at the Museum: Pioneer Museum (6 hour)

Region XIII Social Studies Education Specialist, Rachel Hernandez, invites you to join her at various museums in the Region XIII area!

Pioneer Museum - Fredericksburg, Texas

Texas history teachers will be treated to a morning of living Texas history through an in-depth guided museum tour by the programs/archive director, Evelyn Weinheimer. Pioneer Museum will immerse you in the stories of the people who built this unique community of Fredericksburg. As you visit the museum, you will travel from the 1840's to the 1920's learning about reasons the European immigrants came to Texas and their struggles to survive and preserve their German way of life. Included in their struggles were how they coped during the Civil War and World Wars. Nine structures are located on the museum's three acres and the Vereins Kirche, the first church, school, fort and town hall are included in the tour. Lesson plans will be shared.
