This training will engage participants in the use of data-driven decision-making within the MSTAR Lesson Study model to plan, review, and refine Tier I mathematics instruction. Participants will review important sources of data on student knowledge and thinking related to algebra readiness; connect each of these sources of student data to its appropriate types of decisions; and in design a data-driven action plan for improving some aspect of algebra-readiness related instruction during the next year.
This workshop is a CORE workshop that focuses on high quality Tier 1 instruction and should be considered foundational for new teachers, teachers who are changing teaching assignments and teachers who are developing skills in a particular professional development pathway.
This one day training is the Face to Face (Day 6) follow up to the initial Math Academy 5-6 and 7-8 Academies (MSTAR Academy I: Part A) and the two days of online courses for RtI Tier 1 strategies in the Math classroom (MSTAR Academy I: Part B courses on Project Share).
Attendance at MSTAR I: Math Academy 5-6 or 7-8 Face to Face or Online through Project Share AND completion of six two hour online MSTAR Academy I: Part B courses on Project Share are required to attend and obtain credits.
Participants will be asked to provide their completed MSTAR Degree Plan (found on http://www5.esc13.net/math/) and their Project Share certificates to document their completion of MSTAR Academy I: Part A and Part B courses.
