MSTAR Academy II (Grades 5-8)

This training emphasizes research-based Tier II strategies from the IES Practice Guide for Struggling Students and engages participants in how to identify students needing Tier II support in mathematics and meet their instructional needs.

Participants will learn how to interpret results of the MSTAR Universal Screener; use the screener results and other forms of data to make instructional decisions; and provide practical strategies for implementing evidence-based interventions for students receiving Tier II mathematics support.

Participants are required to have completed an online or face to face Math Academy MSTAR I training (5-6 or 7-8) prior to enrolling in this MSTAR II Academy.  Participants will be asked to provide their completed MSTAR II Degree Plan (available at http://www5.esc13.net/math/)  to document their completion of this prerequisite.

This workshop is a BUILDING professional development opportunity that reflects an integrated and progressive approach to curriculum that connects disciplines, and the instructional strategies that support this integration. Building PDs extend the knowledge in the Core Workshops, allowing teachers to further their skills in a particular professional development pathway.

Participants are encouraged to bring their computer in order to access online materials on Project Share.

This training is located at the Joe Thompson Center on the University of Texas Campus.
