The Tough Kid Tool Box training is designed around The Tough Kid Book® and The Tough Kid Tool Box® by William R. Jensen, Ph.D.,et al. Learn how to structure your classroom to ensure success for Tough Kids and use practical techniques for managing difficult students. You can't "cure" Tough Kids, but you can use proactive, positive techniques to manage and motivate them. Effective management will help your Tough Kids succeed in school and make life in your classroom easier for you and for the other students. This training is for any educator who wants effective and positively focused classrooms.

Participants will receive a copy of the Tough Kid Book

Behaviorally disordered/emotionally disturbed students are frequently referred to as Tough Kids* because they exhibit strong behavioral excesses such as arguing, noncompliance, and aggression. At the same time, they possess significant behavioral deficits in self-management (rule-governed behavior), social skills, and academic abilities.  *Not all Tough Kids are labeled behaviorally disordered/ emotionally disturbed.

Participants learn what causes Tough Kid behavior, how to practically assess it, and strategies to remediate it. The emphasis is on proactive strategies and positive behavior management interventions and strategies to decrease noncompliance and arguing.  All of the strategies covered are research-validated interventions that can be quickly and efficiently implemented in any classroom.

Participants will receive a Tough Kid Book as part of this training.
