Designed to target a small number of TEKS, this series aims to provide an in-depth look at the student expectations, depth, rigor, content knowledge and strategies that will be needed for students to demonstrate mastery of these concepts.
These workshops are considered to be Core or foundational in nature. The intent of these workshops is to build teacher content knowledge and provide pedagogical support. New teachers, teachers new to their content area/grade level, or teachers who are teaching a SE for the first time will especially benefit from these workshops.
Weather and climate involve a complex series of interactions. Designed to provide both content knowledge for the teacher and activities to use in the classroom this workshop will focus on TEKS 4.8A, 4.8B, 8.10A, 8.10B and 8.10C which have been identified as Supporting Standards for the Science STAAR. Troy Kimmel, Meteorologist for many years on KEYE, will join us to provide insight into forecasting the weather and making predictions about the weather based on weather maps.
This workshop is sponsored by the Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science Teaching. All participants will be required to complete a data form for grant purposes.
