LRE Presents: Those Pertinent U.S. Principles
During this session participants will participate in a review of the seven principles of the U.S. Constitution led by an LRE (Law-Related Education) scholar. With the discussion of each, interactive lessons will be shared that are designed to help students analyze the role the principles play in the structure of our national governments as well how these principles affect citizens' lives.
Associated TEKS: 8.15D: Analyze how the U.S. Constitution reflects the principles of limited government, republicanism, checks and balances, federalism, separation of powers, popular sovereignty, and individual rights.
U.S. History 1B: Analyze and evaluate the application of these founding principles to historical events in U.S. History.
HS Government: 7D: Evaluate constitutional provisions for limiting the role of government, including republicanism, checks and balances, federalism, separation of powers, popular sovereignty, and individual rights.
This is a Core Professional Development:
Core Professional Development is considered foundational, the learning experiences are designed to be introductory in nature. Workshops focus on high quality Tier 1 instruction and some Tier 2 intervention with supporting instructional strategies.
Core Professional Development is valuable for new teachers, teachers who are changing teaching assignments and teachers who are developing skills in a particular professional development pathway.
The low cost of this workshop is due to the generosity of Law-Related Education. The Law-Related Education (LRE) Department of the State Bar serves as a catalyst to advance law related and civic education programs throughout the state by curriculum development, educator training, and grant administration.
