This course is intended for new and experienced teachers who want to review key concepts, principles and strategies for teaching Math, Physical Science, and Engineering in 6-12 classrooms. This course is aligned with the Math, Physical Science, and Engineering 6-12 Texas educator standards/frameworks and can serve as preparation for taking the TExES certification examination.
This 116 credit hour course focuses on:
- content development of Math, Physical Science, and Engineering concepts,and principles in grades 6-12
- instructional strategies for Math, Physical Science, and Engineering in 6-12 teachers
- activities and assessments that cover TEKS-based concepts, principles, and strategies for students.
This course will take "approximately 116 hours" to complete.

This course has reached a maximum capacity of 200 participants and registration has closed. We will be offering this course again in Fall 2014.
Obtaining PEM Certification opens the door for teaches to instruct:
- Concepts of Engineering and Technology
- Biotechnology
- Engineering Design and Presentation
- Engineering Mathematics
- Electronics or Robotics and Automation
- Principles of Technology
- Engineering Design and Problem Solving
Stipends of up to $400 are available for the first 30 teachers who prove successful completion of the Spring 2014 online course. An additional $100 stipend is available upon receipt of a participant’s certification exam score. In order to be eligible for the $400 stipend, you must complete the course by no later than Friday, June 27, 2014. In order to be eligible for the $100 stipend, you must register for one of the following TExES certification exams:
- March 12 – 15, 2014
- April 16 – 19, 2014
- May 21 – 24, 2014
- June 18 – 21, 2014
