The Games People Play!

This highly interactive session promotes reading, writing and student dialogue using academic language from multiple perspectives in the Social Studies classroom, based on the newly published book – Seven Steps to a Language-Rich Interactive Classroom co-authored by John Seidlitz and Bill Perryman.

Teachers will engage in activities adapted from the Seven Steps book: 
  • Fortune/Misfortune 
  • H.S.I - Historical Scene Investigation
  • Few Clues Game
  • Debate and Structured Conversations

 

Bill Perryman is an award-winning teacher, recognized as "A Friend of Social Studies Education" in 2008 by the Texas Council of Social Studies. Mr. Perryman has taught and supervised students at the elementary, middle and university levels. In collaboration with John Seidlitz, Mr. Perryman co-developed the 7 Steps to Developing a Language-Rich Interactive Classroom methodology. Mr. Perryman holds a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Texas State University, and an Administrator/Mid-mangagement certification from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He was the keynote presenter at the 2014 Texas Social Studies Supervisors Association (TSSSA) held in Austin, Texas.
