TEA has developed the STAAR Alternate 2 assessment  to assess students in grades 3–8 and high school who have significant cognitive disabilities and are receiving special education services. The 2014-15 test is a different test from previous years.  STAAR Alternate 2 administrators are not required to complete training in addition to that required for administrators of all other forms of STAAR.  In this optional training we will discuss:

  • 2014-15 Participation Requirements
  • Allowable Accommodations for STAAR Alternate 2
  • STAAR Alternate 2 Medical Eligibility Exception and Liability Requirements
  • STAAR Alternate 2 No Authentic Academic Response (NAAR) Eligibility Requirements
  • Sample Test Questions
  • Testing Timelines
  • Planning instruction using the Essence Statements, TEKS Curriculum Framework and TEKS Vertical Alignments
