Dr Jean: Rock, Rhyme, Write, and Read!
Commons Learning Center, JJ Pickle Research Center
12.00 CPE Credits
$85.00

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

Clap your hands, stomp your feet, and catch the reading beat!  Join Dr. Jean Feldman and discover how to have fun as you nurture literacy skills in children.  Dr. Jean will demonstrate how to develop language skills through songs, music, poems, movement, talking, and reading to children.

Wednesday Morning, August 5, 2015

You learn on your feet, not on your seat!  When children move, dance, and wiggle, more senses are activated and the message is more likely to get to the brain.  Music and movement also emit endorphins which make you happy. In this workshop we’ll revisit many of the songs and games you played as a child and you’ll discover how to use them as a springboard for developing skills.

Wednesday Afternoon Make and take

Please bring your creativity, along with your scissors, markers, tape, hole punch, and glue, and you’ll leave with some great materials you can use in your classroom all year.  We’ll sing some songs, tell a story, and cut, paste, color, and glue.  Projects will include:
*The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly
*Gummy Bears
*Letter Bears
*Play Dough Book and Block Book
*Scat the Cat Story
*Lunch Bag Book

Please note that this workshop is at the Commons Learning Center on the Pickle Research Campus in northwest Austin.
