Analytical Writing: The STAAR Short Answer and Beyond, 2015-16
Are you interested in deepening students' understanding of text? Would you like to find new ways to engage students as they encounter and analyze text? Analytical writing will deepen students' appreciation for author's craft and purpose.
In this workshop, teachers will learn strategies that allow students at all secondary levels to write insightful and thoughtful interpretations of texts of different genres.
This workshop is meant for secondary teachers 6-12. The skills of analytical writing are highly rigorous, and spiraling the work of Figure 19 comprehension with analytical writing from grade to grade will result in stronger readers and writers. Join us as we learn how to implement and sustain analytical writing practice in our classrooms!
